Making short work of up-and-coming teenager Laura Ashley, the 25-year-old was pleased with her clinical 6-1 6-1 performance.
"The conditions really suited me, it's really nice and still and hot," she said.
"I just played really aggressive and stuck to my game plan, which really paid off.
"I was able to dictate on my serve, I was really happy with where I was hitting my targets and my accuracy which set me up for my next shot."

Faced with a tough draw at last week's Burnie International, where she came in as defending champion, Woolcock was defeated by Paula Badosa, her opponent in last year's final and the No.1 seed at this tournament.
Playing in Tasmania since 2011, this year marks her fourth trip to Launceston, citing a special connection as her reason for coming back.
"I love Tassie, I've already been to the Cataract Gorge and actually swum in the Gorge and I plan to do that again today for a nice cool down.
"I'm lucky to be hosted by the Tucker family, who have been showing me around and I can't wait to get back to the Gorge."
The highest-ranked Australian to proceed on Wednesday, Woolcock will now face Amber Marshall who pushed past Alicia Smith 6-2 6-3.
