Bourchier and partner Akira Santillan battled their way past 2019 Burnie International winner Steven Diez and Dutch player Mark Vervoort 6-3 6-4 in a fiery contest.
The pairings traded service holds in the first set until the eighth game, where the Australians broke the Dutch serve before Vervoort sent a ball into the NTCA car park - earning a ball abuse violation.
Taking the first, the pair survived a close call early in the second on Santillan's serve courtesy of some tight Bourchier vollies, continuing to trade holds as tempers flared.
