Town Team Movement co-founder and chief executive Dean Cracknell will be moving with his family to Launceston from Perth, WA.
He hopes to engage local stakeholders with the not-for-profit's initiative of enabling community groups and businesses to be the change they want to see in the community.
"This whole idea has come from the community in a grassroots way and these groups called 'town teams' started appearing in Perth," Mr Cracknell said.
"The difference really is that instead of just a separate resident association or a business association or a chamber of commerce, we get them together."
"So the residents learn off the businesses and businesses can learn from residents ... they're all about improving often a street or town centre or an area ... central Launceston, for example.
"By having businesses and residents working together they can contribute different skills."
In other news:
Town Team Movement has helped develop community groups in Perth, Sydney, Canberra and Christchurch, New Zealand.
Town Teams in these areas have been responsible for the implementation of things such as night markets and closed-street events.
Mr Cracknell said interested parties can join the Town Team Movement for free providing they sign a charter of behaviour.
"We've got a charter that requires positivity, inclusivity ... we try and promote economic development, sustainability and social connections," he said.
"By working together, firstly it's about breaking down silos and getting people within the community to meet each other but more importantly [it's about] just getting out there and starting to do things.
"We call ourselves an under-arching body - we don't tell people what to do or represent them but we're there to support and guide them."
Mr Cracknell said his family loved Tassie and were excited for the move.
He added from a business point of view Tasmania's boost in innovation made it a great space to become part of.
