About 400 people donned their finery and strutted their stuff at the Tailrace Centre on Wednesday night for the Rotary Club of Tamar Sunrise's Bushfire Appeal Gala.

Event co-ordinator Danny Gibson said about $50,000 was raised on the night, which will go directly to NSW Rotary's bushfire appeal.

"It's an incredible show of support from the Launceston community," Mr Gibson said.
"It's fantastic that 100 per cent of funds raised from tonight's event will be going directly towards the NSW Rotary appeal and will be used to help bushfire impacted communities that need our help.
"It's communities helping communities which is great to see ... Launceston really is showing its generosity tonight with all the donated auction items as well."
