There were 23 family violence incidents on New Year's Day this year and 14 incidents recorded last Christmas Day.
The average number of family violence incidents recorded each day in 2018 was 9.6 reports.

There have been 185 family violence incidents in the state on New Year's Day over the past six years and 62 incidents on Christmas Day between 2014 and 2018.
Inspector Craig Joel said Tasmania Police normally recorded its highest daily number of family violence incidents each year on New Year's Day.
"We know that increased alcohol and drug consumption impacts on people's behaviour and can lead to violence," he said.
Responding to family violence and family argument incidents is an increasing part of the daily job for Tasmania Police officers, as more people are finding the courage to report these types of matters.
People should not hesitate about contacting police if they need any assistance."
The state's Family Violence Action Plan final report, released in November, showed that 251 high risk family violence incidents reported in 2018-19.
This represented a decrease of more than 12 per cent on the year before.
