The plan would give the living quarters for police officers, which sit above the police station, a makeover.
Plans for the three-bedroom apartment include new double glazed windows, new windows and windowsills, and an ensuite fit-out.
There will be new cupboards, tiles, and surface finishes, a kitchen refresh, and a new roof.
There will also be a new security gate to the building controlled from the upstairs premises.
It's part of a suite of upgrades to police station living areas, with Bicheno, Swansea, Orford and Triabunna also getting a lift.
The state government has committed $7 million in total to the project to improve police accommodation throughout Tasmania.
Representations to the development application can be made to the council until October 16.
