This is something that will soon be available those in need living rough in Launceston thanks to a coffee cart restored by The Salvation Army Employment Plus Work for the Dole participants.
Transformed from battered caravan to coffee cart over six months, the project was managed by Envision Employment Services and involved about 20 Work for the Dole participants.
IN OTHER NEWS:
They worked on all aspects of the caravan, giving them the chance to develop additional skills, Salvation Army Employment Plus WFTD advisor Ji Clark said.
"[Envision] had to gut the inside, they did some structural work underneath, the jobseekers got to do some panel beating, painting, carpentry, cabinetry inside and a little bit of electrical," Mr Clark said.
After the coffee cart was completed is was given to the Salvation Army Launceston Corps to use within Launceston, Corps officer Roderick Brown said.
"We will use it in the local community to assist those who are in need," Mr Brown said.
"Something as simple as a warm cup of tea or coffee can really make a difference. It's very exciting and it will be a great asset."
Salvation Army Launceston Corps is speaking with other organisations about how the coffee cart can be used widely, including at events.
