Shoppers have been wheeling trolleys and baskets around refurbishment works for months, but the store in Launceston Plaza Shopping Centre unveiled its new look on Wednesday.
For many of the 20 new recruits this is their first job, and their employment brings the Racecourse Crescent store’s staff to 117.
Longest-serving team member Kerryn Stubbs, who has worked at Coles for more than 40 years, launched the new store.
“I’ve worked with Coles in Launceston since 1978 – Launceston has always been home and it’s such a beautiful town,” she said.
“When I began my Coles career at 15 years old I remember the support I received from senior team members, which is one of the many reasons I have stayed for over 40 years.”
