On Saturday, the founder of Type Fun Diabetes will host an informal catch-up for people living with the disease at Launceston’s Bryher cafe.
Mr Egan said he hoped to remove the stigma associated with diabetes by “starting a conversation”.
“I started Type Fun because I grew up as the only kid in my town living with type 1 diabetes,” he said.
“We really want to bring the type 1 community together and gauge what they want from Type Fun going forward. Whether that is more social events, more education – hopefully it will become an ongoing series of regular meet-ups.”
Saturday’s free meeting will take place from 1pm to 2.30pm.
