The 2018 Youth Leadership Summit attracted about 17 young people to tackle issues, such as the representation of different cultures in the media.
Held at the Tailrace Centre in Riverside on Saturday, the event was organised by the Sudanese Community Launceston and featured facilitator Lisa Amerikano.
Benfes Taban first attended the summit three years ago.
“I think it’s great because it brings us all together,” Mr Taban said.
“It’s open to anyone.”
The summit created an opportunity for young people to discuss issues in their lives and communities, as well as brainstorm potential solutions, he said.
Mr Benfes hoped to create a better dialogue and connection between different cultural communities in Launceston by hosting more multicultural events.
Young people from the Hazara community also attended the day.
