To her surprise, she brought home two “beautiful” awards, she said.
Ms Phillips won First-class Volunteer and Personality of the Year for her work with SKAL Launceston.
The organisation is an international tourism group of leaders from around the world, promoting global tourism and friendship.
“This is a very special awards program, as we recognise and celebrate those people in our industry who create the visitor experience we’re famous for here in the North” Tourism Northern Tasmania chief executive Chris Griffin said.
“These are people who all too often go unrecognised for their remarkable efforts.”
“We have received 250 nominations from community and industry for people in our industry, acknowledging their inspiration and hard-work that makes this region such as great place to visit.”
In its fifth year the Northern Champions of Tourism were announced on Thursday night at an industry celebration event held in at the Tamar Valley Resort.
