Lau defeated Victorian Marcus Kong 21-8, 21-6 in his semi-final and will meet another NZ player in Joshua Feng, seeded 3-4, in the final to be played on Saturday from 10am. Feng beat the Victorian No.2 seed Ryan Venpin 13-21, 21-9, 21-15.
Girls’ No.1 Zecily Fung also made the final after defeating Victorian Nalini Kuhanandha 21-18, 24-22 in her semi. Fung will play New Zealander Ella Smith, seeded 3-4, in the final after she beat NZ’s Sophie Li in the other semi which went three sets and nearly 50 minutes.
