Danish Crown Princess Mary flew in to Hobart this morning on a private trip to visit family and friends.
The Princess arrived on a Virgin Blue flight from Sydney just before 11am.
She was the first to disembark the flight and was escorted to a waiting car by a security detail, which took her to her sister Jane Stephen's home in West Hobart.
She will reportedly attend a 40th birthday party for her best friend and bridesmaid Amber Petty, on Saturday in Adelaide, during her brief trip to Australia.
It is her first trip home in two years.
It is understood that the Princess's husband Frederik and two children - son Christian, 4, and daughter Isabella, 3 - did not accompany her on the trip to Australia.
The 38-year-old Princess is pregnant with twins, which are due in January next year.
