A new $100,000 program to combat wombat mange will be spearheaded by the Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and the Environment, the University of Tasmania, and volunteers from Conservation Volunteers Australia.

Environment Minister Matthew Groom said the new program would focus on “the potential for more effective treatment options” as well as enhanced state-wide monitoring, research into the disease and more support for community groups involved in caring for wombats with mange.
