The Kepler Ensemble is holding a free concert for the community.
Member Wayne Madden said the ensemble held free concerts in the early days of its inception, so members decided they would go back to their original form by removing the door costs.
“We had to cancel a concert in July because two of our members were ill, so we thought we should make it free to make up for it,” he said.
“Then we decided why not make them all free.”
The four-member group will use a variety of instruments to play some classic, well-known arrangements as well as some more alternative pieces.
“What we try to do is get a variety of different styles and periods,” Madden said.
Established 35-years-ago, the group will feature 19th century German composer Carl Reinecke throughout the night.
Playing in front of an audience is what Madden finds most enjoyable.
“I do it because it gives me an opportunity to express things musically to other people,” he said.
The concert begins at 7.30pm at 64 Robin Street, Newstead.
Entry to the concert is free, but donations will be accepted.
