Northern Tasmania

Launceston and the Tamar Valley have a long history, with the party which founded Melbourne having set out from here. Once a bustling centre of manufacturing, Launceston is now better known for its festivals and fine wines. Hosting such events as Festivale, the Breath of Fresh Air Film Festival, and Junction Arts Festival, while also bing the Tasmanian home of Hawthorn Football Club, Launceston offers plenty to do year-round.

Elsewhere in the north, you can see some of the world’s best wool-producing country in the Midlands, visit the breathtaking vista of Bridestowe Estate Lavender Farm, or tour the Tamar Valley Wine Route. There’s a reason to visit every town in the region, from the Tasmanian Craft Fair held every year in Deloraine to the Penny Farthing Championships in Evandale.
