A diverse collection of truths, Tim ‘Urthboy’ Levinson has used a mirage of life’s lessons to inspire the 12-track record. A powerhouse for Australia’s hip-hop genre, as well as a strong-willed individual with the desire to fight for his beliefs.
Levinson, a member of politically charged group Herd, a co-founder of the label Elefant Traks, is known to push moral and musical boundaries.
Released on March 4, 2016, each track offers an insight into Levinson’s life, delving through life’s struggles and fiercely topical issues like gender equality.
New to fatherhood, Levinson’s song Little Girl’s Dad tackles gender inequality and the pressures of parenthood through his lyrics:
“You ain’t daddy’s little girl, he’s a little girl’s dad and that’s the way it’s gonna be.”
“The men are going to try to tell you what you can and can’t be, but you ain’t gonna stand for that.”
His lyrics add a depth to his music that cannot be imitated or faked. Long Loud Hours featuring Bertie Blackman was the first official single released from the latest album and it ranked 33 in the Triple J Hottest 100, despite only being on the airwaves for two months.
