This is according to the Communications, Electrical and Plumbing Union’s Todd Lambert.
Mr Lambert said that the response to the occupational health and safety and morale surveys, launched late last week, had already received considerable feedback.
A spokesman for TasNetworks reiterated that the ‘‘health, safety and wellbeing of our people is TasNetworks’ number one priority’’.
The union survey was issued on the back of an anonymously written letter, provided to The Examiner, from an employee’s partner to the TasNetworks chief executive Lance Balcombe.
The letter raised serious concerns about poor management of staff, intimidation, long on-call periods, limited breaks – to name but a few.
The letter writer said stress of the situation would see someone ‘‘... take their life’’ if Mr Balcombe did not address the problems.
The company first alerted the CEPU to the letter.
Mr Lambert said there were separate surveys for employees and family, and it had been distributed through a few hundred employees and would close on September 11.
He said despite two letters to Mr Balcombe on the matter, they had not yet heard from him.
The TasNetworks spokesman said the company had ‘‘... reminded our people of TasNetworks’ confidential EAP [Employee Assistance Program] and that this service is available to family members’’.
‘‘Team members have also been encouraged to speak directly with their leader if they have any issues at any time.’’
He said they had not talked directly with the letter’s author as they remained anonymous.
