As of yesterday, 10,666 tickets for the cricketing extravaganza had been sold, with just 2200 seats remaining, with "plenty" of general admission tickets still available.
Organisers are anticipating a crowd of around 15,000 for the Twenty20 clash on the ground's new drop-in wicket on January 30, which will see teams captained by Ponting and Adam Gilchrist go head to head.
There will be participation from cricketers such as Brett Lee, Damien Fleming, Andrew Symonds and Mike Hussey, while footballers from North Melbourne, Richmond and Hawthorn will also play.
A replacement player for boxer Daniel Geale, who had to withdraw due to the announcement of his fight with Garth Woods on February 19, is expected to be announced this week.
The T20 match will have the Biggest Biggest Game of Cricket at 6pm as its curtain-raiser, which is expected to involve up to 1000 children on the Aurora Stadium turf playing a game of cricket, with 497 registered so far.
Gates will open at 5.30pm, with the main match to start at 7.15pm.
Tickets are available from Ticketmaster outlets and all funds raised will go to the Ponting Foundation to help Tasmanians and their families beat cancer.
