Announced today, AAP reported that facilities in Queensland, Port August and Western Australia will also close by the end of next month.
Pontville has been empty since September while the detainees at the other three sites will be transferred in the next few weeks.
Immigration Minister Scott Morrison said the closures would save the government at least $88.8 million a year.
AAP reported that Mr Morrison said the facilities were never envisaged as being permanent.
