The Lauderdale ruckman's first game came in Greater Western Sydney's maiden win a fortnight ago, while on Sunday he was part of the side that went down to Brisbane by 15 goals.
``It was going from an extreme high to a pretty disappointing loss, it's as pretty steep learning curve,'' Phillips said.
``But we're going to have to cop that one, move on and learn from it.''
Phillips, who was the Giants' sub in his debut, and played roles in the ruck and attack on the weekend, said he was feeling comfortable at the highest level.
``I think I'm getting there and I'm reasonably happy with my performance in those two games, but I know I can better,'' he said.
``You've got to be a ruckman and a tall-forward, so being able to go down forward really helps your chances to be selected.''
Phillips, who is averaging seven touches and 11 hit-outs a match, and ruck partner Jonathan Giles will face the daunting duo of Bombers Paddy Ryder and Launceston's Thomas Bellchambers at Skoda Stadium on Saturday.
``They are a bit like (Dean) Cox and (Nic) Naitanui at West Coast, so it will be a real challenge to come up against those damaging ruckmen,'' he said.
Phillips, who came to Lauderdale via Swansea and Triabunna, was recruited to GWS with pick four in the 2010 rookie draft.
He was elevated to its senior list when Setanta O'hAilpin was ruled out with a knee injury after round 6.
