The Examiner's Junior Sports Awards, sponsored by Woolworths, provide acknowledgement of accomplishments by players, coaches, volunteers, teams and clubs across the region.
And we are now accepting nominations for the 2022 edition. Nominate here
Editor Corey Martin said The Examiner is proud to host the annual awards, which shine a light on Northern Tasmania's up-and-coming Olympians and the heartbeats of community sport.
"Sport plays an important role in Tasmanian society with positive mental health and physical fitness benefits linked to those involved in sporting clubs," he said.
"Sport encourages physical activity, social interaction, friendships and develops resilience, perseverance, teamwork and other fundamental aspects of life and community that can also be used off the field.
"These awards celebrate the achievements of our up and coming stars, volunteers, coaches and guardians through eight awards that recognise achievement, dedication, teamwork and service.
"The awards also acknowledge former sports journalist and school teacher Phil Edwards through a bursary named in his honour - mixing his two loves of education and community sport to give someone a starting chance."
