Cricket Tasmania chief executive Dominic Baker said it was a big boost for cricket to receive the extra games on top of the previously announced allotment.
"It's fantastic that Tasmanians will have the chance to watch so much of the world's best female cricketers in action, and we implore them to get out there, cheer on their heroes, and make the most of this fantastic opportunity not just for Tasmanian cricket, but Tasmanian sport in general," he said.
"This tournament is the fourth most viewed tournament in Australian sport, it goes all around the world, there'll be a huge audience with eyes on Tasmania, eyes on the Hurricanes ... it's special for us to be able to start our season here.
While more known as an AFL arena with the Hawthorn Football Club, the UTAS drop-in wickets have received special attention ahead of the WBBL starting this month.
Kevin Mitchell, the famed Gabba curator, was flown to Launceston as an expert consult for the UTAS Stadium staff.
"They're ready to go, Cricket Australia flew Kevin Mitchell in to Launceston who is a well known curator to help them prepare those wickets," Baker said.
"The wickets at UTAS have been in place for three years and they're really starting to reach maturity."
