Early in the first quarter the teams looked fairly even, with quick ball movement through the middle and plenty of pressure all round, but it didn't take long for Lilydale to show why it finished top of the ladder.
A 50-metre penalty against OLs gave Thane Bardenhagen an easy goal to get his team on the scoreboard.
There were glimpses of OLs brilliance from last weekend's game against Old Scotch, like Thomas Chugg's powerful fend-off of Lilydale's Corey Lockett.
But it wasn't enough to compete with the pace and pressure enforced by Lilydale at Invermay Park on Saturday afternoon. At the end of the first quarter Lilydale led by 13 points and had kept OLs goal-less.
Lilydale dominated the start of the second quarter - a sign of what was to come for the rest of the game - scoring a behind and two goals early in the piece.
Mud from heavy rain earlier in the day didn't cause too much havoc, but it did create a unique goal-scoring opportunity for OLs' Campbell Fraser who managed to kick the footy after it landed in mud in the goal square and failed to bounce, instead slowly rolling forward.
Lilydale's Sonny Whiting and Trent Griggs booted four goals each, and Daniel Viney put in a stellar performance with three goals.

Defensively, Louis Venn dominated OLs' Jay Schulz, keeping the former Port Adelaide player to a lonely single goal.
OLs were trailing by 44 points going into the third quarter.
If the writing wasn't already on the wall after the first half, Lilydale extended its lead to 61 points after a quick goal at the start of the fourth quarter.
Fraser's second goal in the final quarter made him OLs' top goal-kicker for the day, but it made little difference to the thumping his team had endured at the hands of Lilydale.
A final attempt at goal by OLs' Aaron Hine was touched before going over the line.
Lilydale will spend next weekend resting after dominating OLs 16.9 (105) to 4.12 (36).
But being in the double-chance semi-final means OLs' hope of playing in the grand final isn't over yet.
OLs will play the winner of Sunday's knock-out clash between Old Scotch and the East Coast Swans.
