The Hawks' dominant form got started right off the bat, getting out to a 20-6 lead at the end of the first quarter.
In the team's first game without leader Danni Pickett, acting captain Gemma Poke said it was important for the squad to show it was still the best.
"It was a statement we wanted to make," she said.

The Hawks' goal attack saw a mix of Kendall Jones and recent signing and former Cavalier Courtney Treloar - the former scored goals on 100 per cent of her attempts.
"Kendall just stepped up another notch again," Poke said.
"She was really fast on entries to the circle and played the role we needed."
Alongside Hawks shooter Ashlea Mawer, Treloar slotted nicely into her new team's aggressive offence.
"It was just nice to have that extra height in there again to make the Devon defenders have to think a bit more," Poke said.
"They [Devon] have headaches with us normally, so it was really nice to continue to give them headaches."

The Hawks also had a turnover feast, particularly in the mid-court thanks to Jamie Symons and Tessa Coote.
"The pressure from the full-court was really good," Poke said.
"The mid-courters make my job [goal keeper] really easy, because I don't have to touch the ball.
"Having that turnover number really high showed we meant business and even if they didn't get it, the pressure allows for Tessa, Issy [Maskell] and myself to come out and take some flyers."
