On Thursday afternoon Public Health Director Dr Mark Veitch confirmed anyone intending to travel to Tasmania from Victoria, would not be allowed into the state unless approved as an essential traveller.
Dr Veitch said Tasmanian residents could apply for essential traveller status to return home, but if approved they would be required to quarantine at suitable premises on arrival for 14 days.
If suitable premises are not available, they will be required to quarantine in government-designated accommodation at their own cost
Victorian authorities announced that Melbourne's lockdown would be extended for another seven days until midnight on Thursday, June 10, with the easing of some restrictions that applying to regional Victoria.
"While it was pleasing that only nine cases have been reported in Victoria in the past two days, there remain several hundred listed exposure sites, including new sites added yesterday and today in Melbourne and regional Victoria," Dr Veitch said.
"Any affected travellers will need to apply to the Deputy State Controller to enter the state via the G2G PASS system.
"If allowed to enter they will be required to quarantine for 14 days and be tested in the first few days and last few days of this period.
"Hotel quarantine fees may apply. Essential workers will have additional requirements."

Anyone with cold or flu symptoms, even mild, is urged to contact the Public Health Hotline on 1800 671 738 to arrange a test.
