The Cavs tied with their Northern rivals 53-53 in a round 10 thriller; while keeper Monique Dufty wasn't on the court, she said her teammates were strengthened by the test.
"It was a tough game for the girls - there was a lot to bring away from it," she said.
"We're disappointed, but we took a lot out of it and we're really happy with how we held ourselves and there's lots to learn.
"We're hoping to bring that into the game this weekend."
We know we need to put four quarters of good netball together to beat them and that's the only way
- Monique Dufty
In her return after five weeks from a concussion, Dufty said she didn't plan on taking her upcoming opponents lightly.
"We're definitely not underestimating them [Devon] - we know what they're capable of," she said.
"We know we need to put four quarters of good netball together to beat them and that's the only way.
"It's going to be a hard game, it's going to be good at the Silverdome."
Devon is tied for fourth on the Tasmanian Netball League ladder with the Arrows and Kingston Blues.
The Hawks have a bye this weekend.
