Men's and women's coaches Stephen McMullen and Luke Doerner took in Greater Northern League competition at St Leonards on Saturday and will head to Burnie next weekend.
With the nomination process open, Doerner wants to utilise the state's talent, attempting to get as large a pool as possible.
"There might be girls up here that might not think that they are in the mix or might not know that we are looking," he said.
"So it's just making sure that we check all the stones, turn them over if we have to and find out who is about and make sure we have the best pool to pick from."
McMullen added: "We may find a player today, we may not but it's a long journey and we're not just here for one week, we are here for years so to speak."
After having several Northern-based players in his 2019 side, former Kookaburra Doerner, who also leads the Tassie Tigers academy, said this year's crew could already be bigger.
"From the nominations that I saw, we've probably got seven semi-based up here ... so we will have a good squad that will be training partially up here and partially in Hobart during the Hockey One prep," he said.
"It's important that we've got a strong group based up here that can train together, so that will be the case this time."
Taking the reigns from Andrew McDonald, McMullen was the 2020 Premier League premiership coach and has led Tasmania's under-15 side to a silver medal this season.
The Tigers job takes his coaching to the next level after the men's side made the semi-finals in 2019.
"I've come into a successful program with a great player base," McMullen said.
"The opportunity for me is to develop my coaching and develop the next Tigers players.
"We don't know where the next Eddie Ockenden is coming from, so we encourage everyone to be involved and develop and thrive.
"Those players that want to take the next step and challenge themselves are the ones we want to talk to."
