Students at East Launceston Primary School will have a permanent reminder of the importance of world peace each time they step into the school yard after the unveiling of a Peace Pole on Wednesday.
The Rotary Club of Central Launceston chose the school and sponsored the project through fundraising, joining with 100 schools from across Australia to feature one of the poles.
The club's youth services director Jodie Lowe said it was great to see the project come to fruition.
"We have a number of members who have family connections with the school so it made the unveiling even more special," she said.

The pole features the phrase "May Peace Prevail on Earth" in four languages, one for each side.
The languages were chosen by the school to reflect the cultures of its students and families.
The project was launched by the Rotary Club of Canberra Burley Griffin to coincide with 100 years of Rotary in Australia, with each participating school encouraged to hold a World Peace Day ceremony and to visit the Canberra Rotary Peace Bell. The poles are described as a "gift" to future generations.
Rotary Peace Poles originated in 1955 and more than 200,000 of them can be found spanning almost 200 countries.
