But all the travelling is not expected to stop him bringing up his seventh consecutive win in Tuesday's final of the prestigious $16,000 series.
Wynyard trainer Ben Englund took Wynburn Sheean to Melbourne on the Spirit Of Tasmania last Friday night then drove the 190km to Shepparton.
He trialled the dog on the Shepparton track on Saturday night in preparation for next week's cup series and Wynburn Sheean broke the track record.
His time of 24.763 took 0.005 seconds off the mark set by 2020 Melbourne Cup winner Hard Style Rico.
Englund was then back on the road to Port Melbourne to catch the overnight ferry trip home.
Part-owner Tom Englund said the plan was to campaign Wynburn Sheean extensively in Victoria and New South Wales after the Shepparton Cup so the hit-and-run trip was a good guide to how he would handle the travelling.
"He pulled up great and he checked out good when he got home but we won't know for certain how it's affected him until he runs on Tuesday," Englund said.
Wynburn Sheean opened at $1.40 with bet365 ahead of Sprint Gordon and Fabulous Baroque at $6.00 and Quick Joey Small at $7.50.
Fastest heat winner Wynburn Dancer has been scratched, giving first reserve Fabulous Baroque a run.
The Shepparton Cup heats next Monday are worth $5280 to the winner while first prizemoney for the final on Saturday March 20 is a healthy $47,000.
LAUNCESTON CUP RUNNERS FALL SHORT
Victorian stayer Barade was the best of the three Launceston Cup runners who fronted up in Monday's $300,000 Adelaide Cup at Morphettville.
The Archie Alexander-trained gelding missed the start by about two lengths before working home bravely to finish fifth behind runaway winner Good Idea.
Barade ran third in the Hobart Cup and was a heavily-backed favourite when fourth in the Launceston Cup.
Launceston Cup placegetter White Hawk took up his favourite front-running role early but was headed mid-race and eventually knocked up to finish 10th.
Hobart Cup runner-up and Launceston Cup sixth-placegetter Classic Weiwei also failed to see out the 3200m, finishing second-last.
As was the case with the Launceston Cup, there was plenty of value for exotics players, with the winner starting at $17, runner-up Eperdument at $81 and third-placed Long Arm at $6.50.
Odds-on favourite Tralee Rose only battled into fourth place after appearing to have every chance.
The trifecta paid almost $6000 on the Tasmanian tote and the first four $26,600.
LEADING JOCKEYS TO MISS ELWICK MEET
Anthony Darmanin and Bulent Muhcu will both be missing from Sunday's Elwick meeting - barring appeals - after being suspended at Mowbray last week.
Darmanin pleaded guilty to mid-range careless riding on Gee Gee Real Deal and Muhcu was found guilty of low-range careless riding on Captain Dave.
Both jockeys were suspended for one Tasmanian meeting with their penalties ending midnight Sunday.
LAUGHER SHOWS HE'S UP WITH BEST
Former Westbury reinsman Jack Laugher won a heat of the Noel Smith Memorial Invitation Drivers Championship at Horsham on Monday.
Laugher made the most of his only drive that was in the market, Apieceoflou, to score by 10m. His other three heat drives were all $26 or longer.
The 21-year-old was competing against some of the sport's biggest names, including Kerryn Manning, Kate Gath, Jodi Quinlan, Greg Sugars, John Caldow.
