The hard-working death bowler finished BBL10 with 20 wickets from 14 games - the most scalps of any Hurricane and the fifth-most in the tournament - but was not named alongside fellow Canes Ben McDermott, D'Arcy Short, Matthew Wade and Riley Meredith in the 18-man squad.
Griffith said the 26-year-old's time would come.
"I was disappointed for Nathan," Griffith said.
"I thought he earnt the right to get on that tour but I've got no doubt as he continues to get better and better ... hopefully he gets that chance soon.

Australia will play five T20 internationals in New Zealand between February 22 and March 7.
