NTCA rep sides bounce back against North-West

Soundly beaten in Tuesday's representative clashes with the North-West, the NTCA bounced back with a win and a thrilling tie in the reverse fixtures on Wednesday.

At the NTCA Ground, the North's under-16s ran to a 43-run win courtesy of a stellar all-round performance from Fletcher Reid.

Arriving at the crease at 6-106, Reid made 52 in a 58-run stand with Riverside teammate Kaidyn Apted (27) and was the last wicket to fall as the hosts compiled 203 from 47.2 overs.

He then finished the game on a hat-trick with figures of 4-19 off six and collected the all-important scalp of Ethan Clark, who made 75 after posting an 81-ball ton on Tuesday.

Apted also impressed with the ball, taking 3-18 off 10 with two maidens, while James Leake (1-5 off four) was similarly economical.

Earlier, South Launceston's Thomas Murfett (43) and Tom Hawkins (29) had also made good contributions.

Meanwhile, some clutch bowling from Simeon May sunk the North under-14s' hopes of a gutsy win at Latrobe.

Chasing 10-157, the NTCA reached the total before losing their final two wickets in consecutive balls as May secured an unlikely tie for the North-West.

South Launceston's Jack Crane did the heavy lifting with 33 not out while NTCA skipper and fellow Knight Ethan Arnott made 30 after almost single-handedly ripping through the North-West batting line-up.

In just five overs, Arnott took 5-19 with Launceston's Jonas Best the North's only other multiple wicket-taker.
