Absent from the defeat, Chieftains captain Liam Reynolds said the loss would harden the side as it makes its late season push.
"There's a lot of things we can learn from it in respect to every aspect of the game," he said.
"It's always good that we've got points to learn off, it's now about how we respond from now on in."

The team will face another challenge in fourth-placed ACL this weekend at University Oval.
"We're looking forward to this game - we need to apply ourselves with the bat and put a little more care and price on our wickets," Reynolds said.
"ACL's been going pretty well so we'll look to our batters to really step up and make some big scores."
Coming off a bye, ACL captain Shaun Woods admitted his squad would have their hands full against a bullish Hadspen.
"We're all pumped and ready to go, I think Hadspen will come out firing against us this weekend after last round," he said.

"We've got a huge task on our hands."
The Chieftains hold a percentage lead over second-placed TREVALLYN, who will host a struggling George Town this weekend.
Trevallyn captain James Whiteley said his team played well in a dominant 80-run win against Evandale last round, ode to a huge match from Daniel Kirk (88 runs).
"He's been brilliant this year in setting the tone for our batting," Whiteley said.
George Town's round 10 loss came at the hands of fringe side PERTH, who continue to improve as the season continues.
Captain John Hayes said the win helped the team continue its final four campaign.
"It was a very encouraging result, hopefully we'll build that momentum and keep playing consistently," he said.
Hayes said after the squad missed out on the finals two years ago due to percentage, there'd be an emphasis on avoiding bad losses and running up the score.
The Demons will face Bracknell at home in round 11.
After a T20 final revenge win against the Chieftains, LONGFORD will go up against second-last Evandale at home this round.
Captain Jackson Blair said beating Hadspen had the team feeling great.
"It was really good; it was a well-rounded performance," he said.
"The team's up and about and feeling pretty good, obviously we're not looking to get too complacent and keep showing up each week and putting 80 overs of cricket together."
Legana has a bye.
