Having smacked a quick-fire 21 with the bat, the 18-year-old took 6-13, including a hat-trick and a stunning caught and bowled, off his four overs to take the game away from the Lions and see his side through the T20s undefeated.
Before McLean's stunning heroics, Will Beattie and Doug Ryan continued their earlier first-grade form, setting the tone for South Launceston's score by combining for 90 for the first wicket.

Ryan was to be dismissed first, caught by Jack Groves off the bowling of Sam Stedman for 35 with Beattie (51) following not long after having brought up his half-century.
South finished at 5-149 as Stedman and Edward Faulkner both took two wickets for the Lions, who started their chase in respectable fashion before the game's momentum shifted.
Both openers, Jack Groves and Charlie Taylor, made 17 at effectively a run-a-ball, falling within overs of each other before McLean was thrown the ball.
He collected Dean Thiesfield and Stedman in consecutive balls to get his first chance at a hat-trick but he sent down a wide.
Just as the Lions started to get back on track, he struck again, this time going through with the hat-trick by taking the wickets of top-scorer Theo Ives (18, bowled), Ethan Taylor (bowled) and Tom McIntee (LBW).
Sucking the life out of the contest at 7-66, he wasn't content with just five, running back with the flight to take a catch off his own bowling to dismiss Lawrence Dodson for nine.
The Lions' tail fought it out to finish their 20 overs at 9-104.
