Codie Ken Fazackerley, 29, pleaded guilty in July to several charges which culminated in a four-wheel-drive crashing into the computer business PCZ4U.

Fazackerley and co-offender Brandon Charlesworth and an 18-year-old woman fled the scene.

Police prosecutor Michael Harley said Fazackerley entered business premises in Forster Street, Invermay, and stole a Holden Colorado which had keys in the ignition. About 2.30pm the vehicle was seen travelling east along Vermont Road by police who attempted to intercept.

Fazackerly accelerated and overtook cars on the incorrect side of the road before crashing into the back of a Mazda. He failed to remain on the scene of the Vermont Road crash and continued driving toward the city centre. The CBD crash occurred shortly after when the stolen vehicle went through a red light.

Fazackerly was on a drug treatment order, an alternative to an actual jail sentence, at the time.

Defence counsel Mark Doyle said Fazackerley was institutionalised and was overwhelmed when released from prison. He said he faced pressure from associates to resume drug use and had been assaulted.

In November Fazackerley was sentenced in the Supreme Court in Launceston to a year and nine months jail for robbery after stealing an Australia Post motorbike and parcels from a postie in October 2019.

He is eligible to apply for parole after one year and three months in February 2021. Magistrate Sharon Cure will sentence via video link on December 7 at 11.30pm.
