Lark Distilling Co, Frogmore Creek and Jean-Pascal Patisserie have worked together for the second year in a row to bring out a seasonal single malt whisky, Christmas Cask II.
In other news:
Jean-Pascal Patisserie owner Jean-Pascal Lepretre hand-selected red wine casks from Frogmore Creek to fill with the fruit jus used to make the patisserie's fruit mince pies.
The casks were then emptied and transported to Lark to be filled with a seasonal single malt whisky, with the concoction left to be enhanced by the flavours in the cask.
Lark head distiller Chris Thomson said the blend chosen this year was the Old Hobart Distillery single malt.
"The spirit has really bright, refined floral notes that match perfectly with the rich spice from the casks," Mr Thomson said.
The blend is described as having notes of custard-covered plum pudding.
"We call it 'Christmas in a glass', the perfect accompaniment to a festive feast," Mr Thomson said.
Mr Lepretre said he was excited by the opportunity to collaborate again on creating the unique product.
"For the second year in a row, we've developed a drop that marries the flavours of our handmade Christmas fruit mince pies with the depth of the casks to create a drop that encompasses the festive spirit," he said.
The limited release festive drop, along with the accompanying fruit mince pies, can be purchased via Lark's website.
