Colin Ingram is in as cover at Hobart Hurricanes for star BBL10 signing

South African power-hitter Colin Ingram has been brought in to act as cover for Malan while he is under quarantine, with the Englishman [the world's number one T20 batsman] not available until the December 27 clash at the Gabba against Brisbane Heat after returning from England's series with South Africa.

Ingram will be available for the season-opener against Sydney Sixers at Blundstone Arena on December 10.

Nicknamed Bulldozer, he played for the Adelaide Strikers in BBL07 and BBL08, featuring in 25 games for the Strikers, scoring 610 runs at 30.5 with a strike-rate of 138.95 and was captain 14 times.

The 35-year-old was part of the Strikers team that defeated the Hurricanes in the BBL07 final.

He has played 265 career T20 matches for 6658 runs at 30.12 with a strike-rate of 140.07.

"It's absolutely awesome news to have signed up with the Hobart Hurricanes," Ingram said.

"The BBL holds fond memories for me playing in Australia. Unfortunately I didn't play last year, but the two years before it was fantastic to be playing in such a prestigious tournament, and that time of the year Australia all buzzing for cricket so it's going to be great to get out and be part of that again."

Hurricanes coach Adam Griffith believed that Ingram would provide "stability and explosive power" to the batting order during his stint.

Hurricanes general manager Scott Barnes said Ingram's addition showed "that we are not only developing an exciting brand of cricket on-field for our fans, but a great culture off-field as well".

Eight BBL10 games in 10 days, with the Hurricanes to feature in four of those, will be played in Tasmania in December.
