The Northern neighbours will both face Olympia in cup semi-finals a week later and, with their final ladder positions virtually confirmed, could be forgiven for planning ahead for a shot at silverware.
City, whose Lakoseljac Cup defeat of Devonport remains the champions' solitary loss for the season, will travel to Warrior Park for their semi-final while Olympic host the southern powerhouse in the under-20 cup.
With many of their youngsters cup tied having featured in the Lakoseljac Cup earlier in the season, Riverside visit South Hobart knowing they could still finish sixth - but that would require a favour from their cross-town rivals.
If Olympic win at Darcy Street, a City victory at Wentworth Park would be enough to see the Roos hop above Clarence.
"If we beat South Hobart we can get sixth and that's a huge incentive," Olympic coach Alex Gaetani said.
Olympic will be without midfield mainstay Liam Gilmore, who tore ligaments in his ankle in the closing minutes against Kingborough, and attacking midifielder Matthew Spanos who has exam commitments.
City striker Noah Mies has been visiting family in NSW and will again miss the team's final league fixture but hopes to be back in contention for the following week's cup tie.
Roger Hardwicke's side is destined to finish bottom of the ladder despite threatening many of the big guns this season, not least Devonport who had to wait until the 73rd minute for a 1-0 win on Saturday.
