Repeating the winning result of last season's semi-final, the Blues kept the home side goalless in the second half, building on their six-point lead at half-time.
Pleased with the outcome, victorious coach Mitch Thorp described the game as "scrappy".
"Obviously everyone was a little bit rusty with the limited preparation that we've had but there was some heat in the contest early," he said.
"Glenorchy actually jumped us, we thought. They had the momentum for the first 10 minutes and then we sort of kicked into gear and had the game on our terms for most of the last three quarters.

"We kicked a lot of points, we kicked 13 points for the day so we need to tidy up our accuracy in front of goal but any win away from home is a good win to start the year."
The Blues leader had his scoring output nullified by the Glenorchy defence but was still able to create an impact and said every player within his side played their role.
"That's a focus of ours - not being reliant on anyone.
"Jake Smith did another great job on Aiden Grace and Jamieson House was really good across half back for us so those two defenders stood up all day and gave us plenty of drive and rebound across half back."
In the round's Southern derby, Lauderdale defeated Clarence 11.10 (76) to 5.5 (36), with Josh McGuinness staring in the win.
