Outgoing batsman Jake Williams, who is currently the only Raider to have achieved second XI honours, mentioned the side's uncertainty as a reason for his departure to Glenorchy but Mitchell believes the Raiders are secure.

"We have very strong backing from Cricket Tasmania, from the board and management, to have this men's, women's and under-18's team in this competition and we have significant funding," he said.

"Pleasingly in the last few weeks we've been confirmed that our funding is going to be at the same levels as last season, so it hasn't been impacted by COVID."

With the financial security of the side assured, the only uncertainty about the Raiders' 2020-21 season is the head coaching position, which was left vacant by new Launceston coach Andy Gower's decision to step down earlier this year.

"That's proved a little bit more problematic in the last few months than what we've hoped.

"We are certainly not sitting on our back sides, we've approached several people and we've still got discussions ongoing and we are hoping to announce something fairly soon.

"It's not ideal that we haven't been able to appoint the coach that we were after and I'm reasonably confident that in the next couple of weeks that we will have something sorted.
