The Tamar Valley Steiner School has appointed former Launceston Church Grammar School headmaster Stephen Norris as its new principal.

Steiner School's outgoing chairperson Annie bell said the announcement was fitting given the school's recent move to a new premises.
"Stephen [Norris], with his many years of accomplished leadership within the independent education sector in Launceston, is the ideal person to take up the reins," she said.

Mr Norris was headmaster at Grammar for 17 years until 2017 when his contract was ended by the school board.
He said his learning journey would begin again with his new position.
"What I saw when I initially visited TVSS told me that something incredibly special was happening in meeting the contemporary needs of the children in every classroom that I entered," Mr Norris said.
