Facing off in the first semi-final of the knockout competition on the statewide organisation's Facebook page, the St Kilda star received 52 per cent of the votes compared to Lynch's 48 with 6400 people taking part.
Two of the more prominent forwards in recent memory - Lynch through the 90s and 2000s, while Riewoldt spread his career into the 2010s - the pair were hard to split, with the Saint kicking 85 more goals in 30 more games but Lynch claiming three premierships.
However it was ultimately Riewoldt's multiple All-Australians, Saints best-and-fairests and leading goalkicking awards got him across the line.
The pair had both breezed their way through the 32-man draw, with Riewoldt accounting for Tom Bellchambers, Darren Pritchard and cousin Jack while Lynch defeated Trent Nichols, Graham Wright and Mitch Robinson.
Riewoldt, who was born in Tasmania before his family moved to Queensland at the age of nine, will face the victor of Richmond forward Matthew Richardson and four-time premiership Hawk and current Lion, Grant Birchall's Devonport duel.
With almost 1000 votes submitted as of Tuesday afternoon, the premier forward led the way 77 per cent to 23 with over a day remaining.
