Tasmanians urged to remain vigilant as state's COVID-19 cases 'not yet' at stable level

Public Health deputy director Scott McKeown said Tasmania had not yet reached a steady state, as other states have, in terms of having a stable level of COVID-19 cases.

"There are still 44 active cases in Tasmania and 150 people still in quarantine," Dr McKeown said.

"There are still at least 150 people and maybe more in the community that may still develop coronavirus.

"They are receiving at least daily checks on their wellbeing and compliance to make sure they are meeting the expectations."

Dr McKeown said about 34 people were in quarantine in relation to a cluster of cases in the Circular Head area.

"It's really important that all Tasmanians follow Tasmanian restrictions and public health advice," he said.

Premier Peter Gutwein said as the state increased testing more positive cases would be found.

"That is a statement of fact and that will happen," Mr Gutwein said.

"I want Tasmanians to remain vigilant. It is not over yet and I can't stress that enough."
