Reeling after Cameron Green scored 158* in 371, the Tigers rallied from 5-139 and 8-281 to post 390 with Beau Webster making a stunning 187 from number seven.

Ellis then became just the third Tasmanian to take a five-for on debut with 6-81 before a late flurry from Tim Paine (48* off 55) and Webster (29* off 18) secured a five-wicket win with the clock ticking down to stumps.

"Bellerive's known as quite a tough batting wicket so to get a run-a-ball 180 is an unbelievable performance," Ellis said of Webster's career-best knock.

"It's not often you get 370 put on you in the first innings and you can win a game from there, so I think that Beau's innings was the factor that set us up for that win.

"Aside from that, it was such a team performance in terms of [Sam] Rainbird with five-for in the first innings, Charlie Wakim and Jake Doran chipping in with 50s and Ben McDermott locking down and Painey as well.

"I think in that there's six or seven proper contributions with everyone chipping in so it was such a great team win."

A virtual unknown to most cricket fans before this summer, Ellis appears to have etched his name in Tasmania's best XI across all three formats.

The 25-year-old was the Hurricanes' most-used bowler in the BBL, performing admirably at the death, and was the third-most prolific bowler in the domestic one-day cup.

His 6-81 included the scalps of former Test pair Shaun Marsh and Cameron Bancroft (both ducks) and followed a three-wicket first-innings haul.

"If you asked me at the start of the season what my dream season would look like, I probably wouldn't have even written this or expected this or thought this was that achievable or realistic," the New South Welshman said.

"To go from not being in the squad to playing all three formats is pretty surreal.

"When I took that fifth [wicket] ... it's something you're never going to forget.

"You try not to think about it or get too wrapped up in that sort of stuff, but to walk off with a bag, it's something I'll never forget."
