Strangely enough, it will only be his third-ever competitive road run of the distance.
"I think the reason why I haven't had much success at 5km and 10km is more due to a lack of opportunity, as I always tend to race in shorter races, but whenever I have the opportunity to race a longer road race or a cross-country race I tend to hold my own," he said.

"My coach Nic Bideau trains me as a 5km runner for the majority of the year so the distance will be no shock."
Holder of the Australian record for 1500-metre competition, Gregson has been one of the country's most consistent performers - having raced at world-championship level five times alongside his two Commowealth Games and Olympics runs.
The winner of the 2008 Burnie 10, the 29-year-old will have to be on top of his game to repeat the feat almost 12 years later with course record holder Brett Robinson, four-time victor Liam Adams and up-and-coming training partner Jack Bruce all involved.
The 10km race starts at 7.30am next Sunday.
