A Tasmanian Government spokesperson confirmed: "Sarah Courtney was married in December at a private ceremony."
The couple's relationship was revealed in October 2018 when Premier Will Hodgman told State Parliament that Ms Courtney, the first female Minister for Primary Industries and Water, would step down from her ministerial responsibilities after developing a "personal relationship" with the head of her department.

At the time, Mr Hodgman announced an independent review into any conflict of interest that may have arisen.
Independent reviews into Ms Courtney and Dr Whittington concluded that "there was no inappropriate decision making by Ms Courtney and that Dr Whittington had not breached the State Service Code of Conduct."
Labor referred the matter to the Integrity Commission after the two audits of the relationship.
It is not known whether Ms Courtney, the member for Bass who was elevated to Health Minister in June this year, took leave for last month's wedding.
As well as a new wife, Dr Whittington, who was previously married, will this month take on a new job as the first chief executive of the Blue Economy CRC-Co Ltd, based in Launceston.
Dr Whittington was secretary of DPIPWE for five years and has postdoctoral experience at universities in Australia and the United States, and with the CRC for Freshwater Ecology.
Ms Courtney also was previously married and has a step-daughter.
