Health Minister Sarah Courtney opened the $2.5 million redevelopment of the Cecelia Button Hospital Wing on Monday.
"The project completed by Tasmanian business Fairbrother Construction will allow health care providers to deliver better health outcomes for patients from across the Southern Midlands and Bothwell regions," Ms Courtney said.
"The refurbishment will also substantially improve the accommodation for the 18 aged care residents housed at MMPHC and create a better working environment for the 54 staff employed at MMPHC, along with the four GPs and 10 supporting specialists who visit each month."
The newly refurbished areas include:
- a new entry portico with reception and waiting areas,
- new offices and administration accommodation including a staff room,
- updated nurses station,
- two bed acute ward,
- a single bed acute ward,
- a single bariatric acute ward,
- new laundry and staff service rooms,
- updated pharmacy, emergency and treatment room,
- and new nurse call and DECT phone system.
