The commission has estimated electricity bills will fall by five pet cent over the period - or 1.7 per cent annually.
Australian Energy Market Commission chairman John Pierce said the drop could be attributed to a fall in wholesale and network costs as well as costs associated with environmental compliance.
Wholesale costs are expected to go down by 10.9 per cent over the three years, networks costs by 1.5 per cent, and environmental costs by 36.2 per cent.
The average energy bill is likely to be $1813 in 2021-22.
The report stated electricity bills were scheduled to drop 7.1 per cent nationwide to 2022, resulting in a saving of $97.
Electricity prices are projected to fall in all states except for Western Australia where customers can expect a rise of six per cent.
The biggest drop of 20 per cent over three years is expected for customers in South-East Queensland.
This should result in a $278 saving over three years.
