The Czech Republic had been knocked to second from its leading position, and France had shot up to third.
Jonathon Stagg, from Tasmania, continued his lead in the individual rankings.
Inland Fisheries director John Diggle said the weather had been challenging.
"It started pretty much right from when we got here - it was snowing on Monday - and that's forecast to continue to the end of the week," he said. "But these guys are used to fishing; they're up for it, no matter what the weather's doing."
The championship is taking place from November 30 to December 8 at Penstock Lagoon, Meander River, Woods Lake, Mersey River, and Little Pine Lagoon.
