The scenario, detailed in the company's recent annual report, involved a $352,516 payment diverted from a supplier of its shipping line to King Island.
The fraudster requested Bass Island Line change bank account details in its accounting system.
The company was only able to recover less than $100,000 of the payment.
TasPorts chairman Stephen Bradford said improvements had been made to the company's accounting system.
Operation of the Bass Island Line resulted in a $2.1 million loss for TasPorts.
The company recorded an overall net profit of $12 million.
Exports from the state grew by 2.3 per cent to 9.8 million tonnes and imports grew by 2 per cent to 5.7 million tonnes. The state's top three commodity exports were woodchips (3.34 million tonnes), general cargo (1.75 million tonnes), and cement (1.26 millions).
Forty per cent of exports left Burnie, 26.6 per cent left Bell Bay, and 23 per cent left Devonport.
